ABOUT CJ RECHT
Contemporary jewelry brand CJ Recht reflects designer Mindy Recht’s own sophisticated style, urban environment and distinctive viewpoint. Designed and handmade in New York, Mindy’s collections are distinguished by unusual shapes, creative textures, sculptural cuts, and a hint of attitude.
Though Mindy loved arts as a child growing up in Pittsburgh, she ultimately followed family tradition and became a lawyer. After stints in private practice and as a Washington D.C. prosecutor, Mindy’s creative calling led her to New York in 1995 to study American fine and decorative arts. Although she returned to practicing law, Mindy continued to make time to study jewelry making and, when demand for her jewelry increased, she decided to step away from the courthouse and step into the studio. In 2007, Mindy founded CJ Recht—named after her father who, despite the fact that he was a lawyer, always said she should be a designer. In her own words: “Better late than never.”
CJ Recht jewelry is handcrafted in gold, sterling silver, vermeil, and bronze accented by diamonds, semiprecious gemstones and beads. The brand has developed a loyal following, has regular trunk shows at Bloomingdale’s stores, and is available at galleries and boutiques across the country. Mindy also creates custom pieces, including engagement and wedding rings.
